My doctor has also ordered X-rays of my hands, wrists, ankles and feet, all of which have suffered from not being on effective medication for the last five years. It was actually a bit tough emotionally to do the series of 24 X-rays. I have a good amount of usage out of my hands--I still type 80 wpm, thank you very much!--but it was shocking to see them laid out on an X-ray slab. I couldn't get into most of the positions the technician requested because of the disfiguration. Just a little shocking/heartbreaking to realize what my hands actually look like.
I'll post a photo if I get my hands on a digital camera soon. And if I go through with the surgery, I'll post updates on what I find out and progress.
