And speaking of getting something out of it, I highly recommend giving seminars as a way to position yourself as an expert. One attendee asked for me speak in her company's booth, saying that their regular speaker was too "mechanical." "You're vivacious and energetic," she said, "You'd be perfect!" I don't mean in any way to disrespect the current speaker; in fact, many companies don't choose me because they want an older, more authoritative sound and look. But I was flattered all the same! And another attendee who makes CD-ROMS requested a contact--maybe he needs a narrator? And my personal favorite, an attendee who will soon be attending a HUGE show here in Chicago in the fall asked me to give this seminar to train their 150 employees in booth behavior.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! I would LOVE to do that!
