1:50-3:00 Listener mail: Vidcasting
Check out Michael's vidcast, done with Camtasia software, showing how he podcasts at MoneyIdeasReport.com.
3:00-19:00 Listener mail/Topic: Seeking presentation energy advice
Greg Balanko-Dickson created a "cheat sheet" from Mark Mariotti's interview on his own blog here. He's working on promoting his new book, Tips and Traps When Buying a Business, and sought presentation advice.
Heidi answers the questions:
- Where do you get your energy from?
- How do you prepare for a presentation?
- How can I make an effective presentation and still be me?
The consultant recommended for writing and creative flow is the estimable Amy Gahran.
19:00-21:50 Topic: Questions as Leverage
This article by Pamela Dunn appeared in last month's Winning Without Intimidation free e-newsletter (subscribe at www.burg.com). I mean, how incredibly simple are her two rules for communication?
- When you push, most people back away.
- When you invite, most people step forward.

21:50-24:20 Topic: Podcast microphone research
Thanks to Shel Holz for his well-wishes and for his advice on microphones and podcasting set-up. Also, check out Michael's (from http://anotherquizshow.com) comment on the entry for DSSP #35 Show Notes. Among his recommendations are:
- iRiver 7xx or 8xx series MP3 players / recorders
http://anotherquizshow.com/iriver799 - This external mic is used by many podcasters including myself, and it’s only $65 http://www.anotherquizshow.com/gear/GiantSquidMic
- The Behringer UB802 Mixer can accommodate two microphones and is only $50 http://www.anotherquizshow.com/gear/BehringerUB802
- A popular microphone is the MXL 990 for only $50 http://www.anotherquizshow.com/gear/MXL990
- We use a Kel HM-1, and it was $99 including shipping http://www.anotherquizshow.com/gear/KelHM-1
- I’ve heard great reviews about the AKG Perception 200 for $160 http://www.anotherquizshow.com/gear/AKG_Perception200
- floor stand http://www.anotherquizshow.com/gear/StandPak
- pop filter http://www.anotherquizshow.com/gear/NadyPopFilter
24:20-33:20 Interview: Illogic from Guitar Center
Illogic explains the difference between dynamic and condenser mics; what "cartioid" means vs. omnidirectional; phantom power; sound card vs mixers (he recommends the M-Audio Mobile Pre sound card at $149.99 for my iBook, which has no mic line-in); and then at the end, he hits me with the Blue Snowball mic, the only USB condenser microphone! They're backordered, but I found this info on www.bluemic.com, and I did find a few on Ebay as well.
33:20-end Wrap-up
Call the listener comment line at 206-984-9702, email Heidi at heidim@heidimillerpresents.com and don't forget to visit Heidi's weblog, Talk It Up!, during the week, for articles and updates. Thanks for listening!
