As promised, the final (hopefully final!) determination of Blue Mic's Snowball's function in conjuction with a Mac iBook G4 and Audio HiJack Pro. Your mileage may vary, but here is what hours of wrestling and countless emails back and forth to tech support and geek associates determined:
- The Snowball CAN be used to record with AHP. However, skipping will occur if the user tries recording directly to MP3; AAC and AIFF formats work to eliminate the skipping problem.
- The Snowball can NOT be used to record a Skype call with AHP (unless the user has a faster processor than is available in the iBook). Attempting to do this will cause AHP to freeze for periods of 30 seconds to two minutes and prolific amounts of skipping.
- The Snowball CAN be used to record a Skype call with WireTap Pro, a much simpler program. Drawbacks: no way to adjust the gain. Advantages: One-click recording of the Snowball and Skype.
