My ear prompter cut out and then stopped during the last two presentations. This is where I'm really glad that:
- I don't panic
- I can improv
- I always keep backups of each piece of equipment nearby
I know I harp on this a lot, but this is why you do want an experienced presenter. Newbies won't be able to afford backup equipment--when I started, I only had one prompter, earpiece and remote. I had to learn the hard way that you need at least two of each, just in case. And newbies will freak out if something doesn't work.
And remember batteries. Lots and lots of batteries!
At any rate, I'm energized. Dealing with technical difficulties so smoothly that the client never even knows there was an issue jazzes me. Wheeeee!
